We followed the sidewalk that ran along the waterfront. Man, there were a lot of people and it was still early. The women with whom we talked on the train were right - it was a good idea to go to the Cauldron first! We just followed the signs...
We knew it was on one side of Canada Place so when we saw that building, we knew it was close!
Every business in Vancouver was cheering on the Canadian team and some of the signs were pretty funny...like this one.
I really enjoyed looking at the buildings as we walked. Vancouver is a very pretty city with a very modern waterfront.
Then suddenly, there it was...
Wow. You might not be able to see it in the picture, but there is a mesh fence all around the cauldron to prevent people from getting too close. The fence is divided horizontally so there's room to get a camera in there for closer pictures. That's how I got this close-up.
Off on one side, I saw people standing on a structure about a story high...yep, pictures would be killer from that vantage point! So, I went in search of a way to get up there. The woman sitting up here pointed behind her and said the line started there.
I walked behind her and saw this:
See that line of people inside the green fence? That's about half of the people who were all waiting to get to that platform and take pictures. Knowing that I only had one full day at the Olympics, I wasn't going to waste my Olympic experience in line; I could do that anytime! The pictures I got would have to do; including this one. I'm trying to look calm here when really I'm ready to bust out of my skin I'm so excited!
If you watch the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, you'll no doubt recognize the next shot. Of course, at night, the Olympic circles were lit.
Media from other countries were headquartered in Canada Place during the games. But we didn't see anyone.
Well, other than Brian Williams. No, not that Brian Williams. This one; the guy on the left. He's Canada's Brian Williams.
And I was glad to see this young woman was enjoying herself, too.
But I didn't get what was with all the eagles. They were everywhere. All over the city. And all painted differently. I didn't remember hearing anything about them before we left. Maybe they were sponsored by the First Nations...
or maybe it's a Vancouver thing and they're always around. Regardless, they were fun to see.

Well, hot diggity dogster-ramma! The Andersons went to the Olympics. How much fun is that?
Loved the pics and the narrative. Keep up the good work.
